SACUBO will provide eight scholarships of $1,000 each for individuals to attend the 2017 Fall Workshop in Savannah. The purpose of the scholarships is to promote professional development for individuals whose institution cannot afford to send an employee to this Workshop. The applicant’s college or university must be a member of SACUBO for the application to be considered.
The application deadline has past.
Applicants will be notified of their status no later than September 30, 2017.
Optional Accounting Tracks
The regular program will offer concurrent sessions on a variety of topics of importance to higher education business professionals. In addition, two optional accounting tracks, basic and advanced, will be offered at the Fall Workshop. The accounting tracks include sessions on Monday and a half-day financial reporting session on Tuesday morning. Those attending the accounting track sessions will join other conference attendees for general sessions, breaks, meals, and other events.
Basics of College and University Accounting is an introduction to accounting for those recently employed in college and university business management. The course assumes a general understanding of accounting commensurate with a bachelor's degree, but does not assume extensive experience in higher education accounting.
The advanced course, College and University Accounting for Accountants, is for attendees with an accounting background and some experience in college and universities. More advanced concepts of fund accounting for each of the major fund groups will be reviewed. Issues and problems which commonly confront a college and university accounting office will also be addressed.
There are no additional costs for the accounting track programs. Attendees simply choose the appropriate track when registering for the conference.
The fall workshop is an excellent opportunity to earn continuing professional education credits. Earn CPE credits as you attend sessions, confer with colleagues, and meet industry leaders from across the region.
Certificates will be emailed within two weeks after the meeting.
